2011 Film Festival launched

The 2011 Edinburgh International Film Festival launched on 17th May with a  varied and eclectic programme which has something to entice everyone. Unique to Edinburgh, we are showing the international premiere of political thriller Page Eight in which MI5 officer Bill Nighy navigates his way through the minefield of politics and morality.

In our Conflict/Reportage strand, Martin Bell presents Salvador followed by a personal account of his time in El Salvador in a Q&A session at the end of the screening. Not to be missed.

It's not just movies at the EIFF

Alongside our global and homegrown features, we introduce our other diverse strands from soundtracks to experimental. 

Shadow Shows is an audiovisual collaboration bringing together a shadow play film with an original score performed by the band Pram behind the screen.

Our Nokia Shorts Weekender gives an intimate insight into city life, highlights the role of viral film and introduces the potential for animated features. Edinburgh International Film Festival continues to champion integrity, creativity and originality.
