Volvo unveils world's cleanest diesel
Volvo has confirmed that a V60 estate car will appear in its showrooms in 2012, boasting an incredible 150mpg. It will be the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid production car.
Its CO2 emissions are only 49g/km, which is less than half the threshold to put the car into the free-to-tax VED band A.
All in all, the Volvo makes the Toyota Prius - the pioneer and benchmark for eco-friendly hybrid cars - look like something of a gas guzzler.
