  • Looking after our customers

30 Sep 2011 Posted by The Bike Chain

A few months ago we were fortunate enough to be voted the Best For Service, Edinburgh, in the UK consumer magazine, What Mountain Bike.

We beat 2 big names in the process, Edinburgh Bike Coop and Alpine Bikes.

It has long been a David and Goliath fight in Edinburgh between the wee guys like us who take time to look after people and ask the right questions of our customers to get them the best advice and product we can, and those who are more interested in churning out whatever suits their needs, not yours.

Well anyway, what it showed us is that we can do what we are aiming to do well whilst giving us a good gauge of where we can keep improving.

If you are reading this we know you are the type of person who values a retailer that cares about you and what your needs are.  That's why you are on here and that's why we are here.

It's all too easy to jump in the car and go up to Bruntsfield when there is someone nr the city centre that doesn't have the flashy halogen lights and shiny floor that will actually listen.

    Come and say Hi.

In the meantime, here is our latest newsletter.

  • Laser dentistry - the new, pain-free option

27 Jun 2011 Posted by Integrated Dentalcare

Dr Neeraj Puri at Integrated Dentalcare performs procedures using a state-of-the-art laser that banishes the whine of the drill, the inconvenience of numbness and most importantly, the pain factor. The technique combines laser energy and water to provide a gentler, more precise treatment that is less invasive to surrounding healthy teeth.

Not only does water laser treatment remove the heat and vibration which causes the discomfort of drilling, but it also acts as a natural steriliser, reducing the risk of infection. Best of all, because of the laser's pinpoint accuracy, even quite complex procedures are now far quicker than before, meaning less time spent in the dentist's chair. . .

  • Rolls Royce concept car is unveiled in Geneva

27 Jun 2011 Posted by Murray Motor Company

An 'experimental' electric version of the Phantom Rolls Royce was recently launched at the Geneva Motor Show. While officially the company is stressing the car is a "concept" and not for immediate production, it's an exciting development and the prototype is now embarking on a world tour testing durability and customer feedback across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America. Based on a regular-length Phantom, the 102EX concept replaces the standard twin-turbo V12 with two electric motors which power the back axle through a single-speed transmission. The 102EX reaches 60mph in "under eight seconds" and can accelerate onto an electronically limited 100 mph maximum - not bad for a car which weighs around 200 kg more than a regular Phantom.

For the latest Rolls Royce models (but not this one just yet!), visit the Murray Motor Company - Scotland's only dealer for Rolls Royce and Aston Martin.

  • Cygnet rings the changes for Aston Martin

31 Mar 2011 Posted by Murray Motor Company

Since its inception 98 years ago, Aston Martin has been synonymous with performance cars. From the 1921 Standard Sports onwards, this quintessentially British marque has made its name in large, powerful sporting and GT models. The arrival of the Cygnet is therefore a radical departure for Aston Martin. Unveiled 12 months ago as a concept car, and then confirmed for production last autumn, the company describe it as a “bespoke luxury commuter car”.

With prices starting from £30,995, the Cygnet brings the Aston Martin badge within reach of a considerably wider audience, and at just three metres in length, its compact dimensions are ideally suited to urban environments where space is often at a premium. Yet behind that diminutive bodyshell, the Cygnet is a thoroughbred Aston Martin, right down to its bespoke nature. With an almost unlimited palette of materials, colours and textures available to choose from, each hand-finished car will be truly unique, and the company has chosen a brace of special launch editions to highlight that fact, christened White and Black. The former delivers a fine encapsulation of the Cygnet ethos thanks to numerous opulent flourishes, from chrome brightwork and White Diamond turned alloy wheels through to seats hand-trimmed in white leather. From within the cockpit, there is no doubt that this is an Aston Martin; the textures, aromas and presentation are all unmistakeable. Furthermore, every Cygnet will be constructed with the same levels of craftsmanship and attention to detail that are imbued into every product designed and built at Aston Martin’s Gaydon manufacturing plant in Warwickshire.

Its CO2 emissions are only 49g/km, which is less than half the threshold to put the car into the free-to-tax VED band A.

All in all, the Volvo makes the Toyota Prius - the pioneer and benchmark for eco-friendly hybrid cars - look like something of a gas guzzler.

  • Exclusive Introduction

3 Feb 2011 Posted by Hamilton & Inches Ltd

Hamilton & Inches is proud to introduce Bremont’s latest watch, the limited edition ‘Bremont P-51’.   The newest offering from Bremont is a chronograph chronometer built with original parts from the famous 1944 Mustang WWII aircraft P-51K-10 (serial number 44-12016), a Pacific war veteran also known as ‘Fragile but Agile’. The model, which will be limited to 251 pieces is following on the great success of 2008’s EP120 Bremont P-51.

Original aluminium metal from the aircraft fuselage is integrated into both the dial and the movement of the timepiece; with the dial itself inspired by the clocks found in the P-51 aircraft. The 43mm hardened steel Trip-Tick™ case, using Bre s B-EBE2000 technology, integrates the new rotating ‘Roto-Click’ inner bezel that houses four ball-bearings inside the c. As with many of Bremont’s latest watch designs, the P-51 is assembled the company’s atelier in England rather than their workshop in Biel-Bienne in Switzerland, and houses a modified Swiss BE-54A automatic chronometer movement that also shows UTC time. The watch will be limited to only 251 pieces and will retail at £7,450.00. The watch is to be unveiled at Basel 2011 and released in the autumn.

The Bremont Watch Company is a British company that was started by brothers Nick and Giles English in 2002.
